Classification of solar street lamp batteries

We all know that the core of solar street lights is the battery. There are a few kinds of batteries : lead-acid batteries, ternary lithium, LiFepo4 lithium, Gel battery. Today we are going to talk about the difference between lead-acid batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries.

1. Better anti-theft performance of lithium battery
Solar energy use battery to store electrical energy, so the cost of this battery is slightly more expensive, which will also make some thieves notice this battery. In the past, lead-acid batteries were buried underground and could easily be stolen by thieves. However, the lithium battery is installed under the solar panel or all in one design with solar panel and LED light. Because the height of the street light pole is high, it is relatively difficulty to steal the lithium battery. If you install a special battery anti-theft box for the lithium battery, it can prevent the battery from being stolen.

Therefore, lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries are installed at different locations. The installation location of lithium batteries is not conducive to theft by thieves. This greatly reduces the possibility of battery theft.

2.Lithium batteries have less pollution than lead-acid batteries
We all know that lead-acid batteries have short lifetime. Although it is cheap, it may be replaced once a year, which will greatly increase environmental pollution. Moreover, lead-acid batteries are more polluting than lithium batteries. If they are replaced, they will always cause harm to the environment.

3.Lithium battery has a longer service life
As mentioned above, the annual loss of lead-acid batteries is relatively high, and it often needs to be replaced once a year or two. The lithium battery has a service life of 3 to 5 years. Generally speaking, it can be guaranteed for three years. This means that if there is any problem with the battery within the past three years, you can contact the manufacturer to replace it, without extra costs, and just use it comfortably.

4. lithium battery safety
Lead-acid batteries are prone to water, while lithium batteries are not prone to water. In addition, lead-acid batteries are memory-based, that is, charging will produce a memory effect before it is fully discharged, which will affect the battery’s lifetime. The lithium battery is non-memory and can be recharged at any time. This makes it safer and more reassuring to use.

In addition, lithium batteries are much more delicate and lighter than lead-acid batteries, and are much easier to install. Lithium batteries are now more widely used and have gradually replaced lead-acid batteries. Although the cost of lithium batteries is higher, it can save us a lot of manpower and material resources.
